Don’t give up friend, don’t throw in the towel, it’s not over. If you have felt like you’ve been carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders, Jesus is ready to help. Seriously, the Bible has a lot of high-energy verses, for when we’ve got nothing left in the tank.
Here’s just one for example: “So let’s not allow ourselves to get fatigued doing good. At the right time we will harvest a good crop if we don’t give up, or quit.” Galatians 6:9a MESSAGE
When you are weakest, God is strongest. During struggles, chaos and confusion, we pray and wait. Who likes waiting? No one! However, God’s purpose and timeline is beyond our understanding. Trust God more, believe God more, and just hold on until you see God stepping in, doing what only God can do. He will, in His way and in His time, work on our behalf.
It’s not always what we imagined or asked for; sometimes it is even better than what we wanted. Yesterday, I met a lady who was at the end of her rope. She had been everywhere in town looking for a little hope that she could hold things together for a couple more days. It turned out Journey was able to provide a small amount of kindness, but it was all she needed.
As she started to leave, she said, “Can I hug you?” I didn’t really do anything; it was God working through the Tide Jug at Journey. But for that instant, I represented the help she needed from a good, good Father. She could breathe again when her life was suffocating. She reached out a hand for God’s help as she was going under and He grabbed her.
God does that sort of thing, every day, through regular people everywhere in the world. Tell someone who imagines that their situation is so broken, so conflicted and hopeless that it’s too late, ask them to give God another chance. If you’ve heard all your life that you’re impossible, don’t believe it.
This weekend kicks off a new four-week series from Philippians, Comeback. Just like the KLOVE song, “Just when they think they’ve got you game, set, match here comes the comeback.” Check this new series out and invite a guest to join you. Give them a chance to discover God as the good, good Father in their life also.
You can try Journey Sat@6pm/Sun@10:30am or follow on the live stream with Facebook. We’re in this together. See you on the weekend. You guys at Journey help people in our community make a comeback. Way to go. Way to go, God
