Christmas is for-GIVING
“21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins. 22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet.” Matthew 1:21-22 NIV
I can’t remember the year but I still remember the gifts. One particular Christmas morning my siblings and I received an abundance of kid toys under the tree. I am not sure if my dad got an extra Christmas bonus that year or what?
The reason that Christmas was memorable, our family, like most families at the time had small budgets at Christmas for toys. Most gifts under the tree turned out to be more practical gifts like new shoes or some needed clothing item we had outgrown since summer.
I can imagine you also have a story to tell of the year you received a Christmas gift that was cherished or enjoyed for years to come. In just a few days we’ll all enjoy Christmas 2017. Journey worship has been planned to remind us, everyone, the greatest gift is Jesus born in Bethlehem, Savior of the world.
If you are in town this weekend our services are at normal times. Christmas is Monday and Christmas Eve is Sunday. It just is a natural fit for our Journey Sat@6pm and Sun@10:30am to prepare everyone for their Christmas celebration and traditions.
If you know someone who was never a regular at Church, or maybe just drifted away as an adult, maybe give them an invite to join us. I promise you this Christmas service planned for Journey weekend will help everyone find inspiration and hope in the New Year.
The reality for some people today, the tree looks pretty thin and few presents are underneath. Journey would like to bring some love and encouragement to people, whatever the circumstance; especially anyone who feels alone or under-enthused at this time of year. Invite someone to join us either Saturday or Sunday at Journey Christmas 2017.
Your invitation may be the best gift that could be given to someone you know as friend, family, or stranger. Christmas is for GIVING gifts of all sizes and shapes. You may help someone move forward again who feels stuck in some disappoint this year.
Jesus love at Christmas can be the most memorable gift others might receive from you all year. Merry Christmas!
