"Brackets"

March 15, 2018

If you’re even a novice college basketball fan, probably you’ve picked your 2017-2018 College Basketball National Champion. Many serious fans fill out their brackets from the field of 68-teams from division one schools. Some choose a Cinderella team to be crowned through upsets at the end. Some try random choices like picking their favorite school colors or mascot to win. Others though, the blue bloods always in the running for National Championships want desperately another banner to hang in the gym rafters. Kentucky is one of those blue bloods with great teams each year competing for more hardware in the trophy case. This weekend is part 3 in our series, Momentum… getting from where we are to where we want to be. Life is a lot like seeing ourselves as your favorite basketball team. We all want to improve year after year until we are competing for Best Person of the Year awards. This week we explore more practical ways to build community and engage others unlike ourselves. Jesus has something in mind for all of us like developing team chemistry with new players each year. Jesus promises to help us and coach us into becoming our best versions of our-selves. Like teams that struggle to see improvement it takes hard work and tons of practice to not give up. Last season is just a memory; with Jesus our best days are always in front of us. This weekend you can help someone catch the tournament fever. Be excited about your favorite team. Share some laughter and good food with friends around championship games. Let them see the connection in sports and our life lived each day. Make the invite. Tell others, not connected to any church family; everybody has a chance to be on a winning team. Jesus really is for everybody. Invite someone to join us this weekend at Journey. Tell them to try our Saturday night service at 6pm if their Sunday is packed full with games. Go God.
