Remember this one on the playground at grade school? "Sticks and stones may hurt my bones but words will never hurt me!" Wow, we missed that one by a county mile. Sticks and stones leave a mark and hurt a lot; but words wound and go deep. Most of us carry some kind of scar from something that was spoken years ago.
This weekend is the final episode from our current series, True-ish, which began Easter Sunday. This short four week series launched by asking and answering the critical question Pilate struggled to answer when condemning Jesus to death on a cross: "what is truth?"
Pilate, like many people today, just walked away, rejecting Jesus' answer. "I am the way, the truth, and the light. No one can come to the Father except through me." John 14:6 NLT
Truth is not a what but a who! Knowing Jesus as the Truth will set you free. You will find the peace you're searching for. If you have never surrendered your will and made a decision to follow Jesus you will never be at peace. You can wash your hands and walk away from Jesus like Pilate, but you will never be free.
Don't wait for next Easter to get your Jesus story started. Let me know if you're ready to start a new chapter and a forever story of God's love in your life, now and forever. We can make any day your Easter. God is for you and not against you. It's the Truth!
After sharing this message on Easter we looked at Tru-ish sounding statements we've all heard. As long as I am happy.... As long as I am sincere.... and this weekend we'll wrap up this series with the last one which sounds kind of true, but really is not, As long as I don't hurt anyone.
The weather looks much more spring like this weekend. Come inside one of our weekend services and bring a guest. You have Sat@6pm or Sun@10:30am. Both services are identical in planning and presentation. Saturday night is a much smaller service. If you like a more intimate setting with a few friends give that worship gathering a try. Maybe it can be a great way to wrap up your Saturday activity.
Everyone needs Jesus. Let's talk about it. We're in this together. I guarantee you'll not walk away with a knot on your head from some harsh words. God is for you. He is not against you. Let us help you navigate through your life choices this weekend.
God is Good. Truth!!!
