Guest List

Have you seen those ads: “Space is limited and filling up.” Maybe you’re planning to attend a winter concert and the tickets are going fast? Don’t you hate it when the seats are gone? I can imagine you frantically going online, hoping to secure your seat before it’s sold out. Sold out events in sports are pretty common also with the best teams and biggest fan base. And those finer restaurants with the savory menu and world class chef take reservations weeks in advance.

If you by chance happen to attend a celebrity function, definitely you will need a connection for getting on the exclusive guest list. No one just walks into a place that has limited seating and a long wait list. This weekend at Journey worship we’ll explore together another relevant and helpful example of Virtues, sometimes forgotten, or never practiced. This week the topic is

Integrity, having behavior which matches beliefs.

So hey, here’s something to consider and clarify: If we hope to live in heaven forever, how might we insure, we’re actually on the guest list? That’s a really good question. Any gig that’s worthwhile must have limited seating, ticket sales, or a VIP pass to get in? What can we learn about the afterlife from some of the people who wrote about it in the Bible? David, author of many of the Psalms recorded this: “God, who gets invited to dinner at your place? How do we get on your guest list?” Psalm 15:1 Message

If you are not familiar with the words of David in the Psalms, maybe feeling like you’re in the dark a bit, here are some down to earth instructions you find helpful. God answered David’s question posed, when he said, “Who gets invited? How do I get on the guest list?” with this short but clear response: “Walk straight, act right, tell the truth.” Psalm 15:2 Message

This weekend we’ll take a closer look at this together. I hope you can join us and bring a Journey guest. Invite someone, anyone who isn’t connected consistently with a worship gathering. They may find these God words enlightening and helpful like a Father who gives practical advice. God is for you, not against you.

The God words we’ll share this weekend in the lesson guide and coach us to never cut corners, be a straight shooter, and show some integrity each day. Hanging out with other people who are also looking for a little direction in getting the most from life can be very supportive. We are in this together; nobody gets it right all the time.

Like our favorite sports team, we’ve all have a few fumbles and stumbles; those less than glamorous moments in the game of life. We’re not Jesus. So, it’s ok to not be ok. Just be real; it’s not over. Your best days are still in front of you. Let’s work on it together.

Join us, grab a fresh look at how much God loves you. He wants everyone on the guest list for dinner at His place. it’s never sold out. Spread the Word.
