“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity. Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching.” 1 Timothy 4:12-13 NIV
These words above are from the Apostle Paul to a younger mentor, younger assistant named Timothy whose job became pastoral care for a Church work established in Ephesus years earlier. When the Apostle Paul realized he might not return to Ephesus in the near future, he gave this charge to his younger protege, Timothy. Timothy was challenged to care for the work of the Church, protect the Church from false doctrine, help establish leaders, and love the people, forever and always. It was a defining moment in the Church at Ephesus, where a younger leader steps up to lead.
This weekend is one of those moments at Journey Community Christian Church. Bryan Martinez is a “Timothy” of Journey Church; having grown up in this Church family when the Church was planted, July 2007. Bryan’s parents, Manuel and Pam Martinez, along with his sister Anna, have faithfully and consistently supported Journey Church in our community from the beginning. Bryan will be ordained into full-time Christian ministry this Sunday at our weekend worship gathering.
We are telling Bryan and everyone, this is a pretty big deal. Besides choosing Jesus and getting married, this is one of Bryan and Bridget’s biggest life decisions they will ever make. It is also a big deal for Journey Church. By granting ordination to the Christian ministry for Bryan, Journey Church gives its approval and recommendation to every Church, everywhere. As a Church family we are agreeing Bryan has earned our confidence and is granted our endorsement as minister of Jesus Christ.
Bryan graduated high school, went away to college for four years. He and his wife Bridget both graduated Kentucky Christian University, soon married and began a family. He and Bridget and daughter, Briella arrived at Journey Church upon graduation, May 2018. Their family is making a life commitment to serve God full-time as youth minister in our community and Journey.
Join us this weekend and help us pack the house in our Sunday service for Bryan and Bridget and Briella Martinez. Let's celebrate another milestone and moment in the life of Bryan and Bridget Martinez and Journey Community Christian Church.
Laugh more, eat more, be together more and this weekend celebrate more. Let’s do this.... Wow God!
