Bobby's Thursday Blog

Parades, picnics, and parks rule the day every July 4th. Many businesses close and workers take a break from regular duties for the day. Families gather with food and fun around shady trees, backyard barbecues and water parks. It is a National Celebration of our nation and the freedoms fought for through our history.

History is often forgotten, if not celebrated. Whatever you are doing today, wherever you may be, July 4th, I hope, is a celebration of our freedom fought for and died for, which is never forgotten. Always remember Independence Day, July 4th, 1776 and every 4th of July celebration in America each year. Enjoy some burgers and fireworks; God is good and America is still a great place to live and be an American.

If you are in town this weekend, join us at Journey for part two in our summer series, GeneroUS, God has more for me than ME! This weekend we’re, again, exploring together this thought: When you know who you are you’ll know what to do. If you’re feeling a bit under-appreciated, over-looked, and overwhelmed, this lesson can be the lifter you are needing most.

People are really good about pointing out all our flaws. When we’ve been working hard to improve, someone is sure to mention the closet we haven’t gotten straightened up yet. It’s the way people can be. I’m glad God is never like that.

On our fridge in the kitchen at home are several works of “art” and pics of the famous artist who made them. They are masterpiece’s of our children and grandchildren. What might look like scribble marks to you, looks very different to Connie and I who love them for all they are worth. Jesus sees each of us like His own children; even better than we imagine ourselves. He is not constantly pointing out our flaws but recognizing our progress. We are His masterpiece.

Join us this weekend at Journey Community Christian Church. Let’s celebrate together what God has promised for each of us. Even on our worst days, He is willing and able to remake us into a better version of ourselves. Bring a guest who isn’t clear about their value in the world right now. I promise this will help them and you find renewed hope and confidence.

Happy Fourth of July, America!
