Finding Your Balance

Life can be such a struggle. Each New Year we search for more balance and equilibrium. Whether it is the weather or our health, no one likes extreme situations. We can be thrown off track for weeks or months because of needed surgery or unwelcome physical illness. People are just people; we have emotions which go up and down like a roller coaster.

More than anything, we need to ask God to help us keep a positive attitude in 2020. He is bigger than our problems. A crisis doesn’t have to be a bad thing. It can also be an opportunity for us to grow. The following verse may be a great reminder to carry with us into 2020.

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for what he has done.” Philippians 4:6 NLT

I know this is good advice. I try to follow it, always. But who hasn’t questioned themselves and their decisions? Who hasn’t second-guessed why? Why did I do that or say that again? Has that ever happened to you? Most of us are quick to lose our confidence when sudden failure or disappointment arrives. We’re just people.

This weekend is part two of our New Year series, Little Big Words. We’re sharing small Bible words (small size… big impact) which produce fresh insight for renewed power and encouragement during moments of despair. Who doesn’t need this stuff every year to get our life back on track?

The holidays are past. Our bills are past due. Our energy is sluggish and the weather outside is gloomy again. We’re all just people. Our self-doubt can begin about this time of year like a low-grade fever. Before you know what hit you, we’re all out of sorts with everything.

If this is sounding like a song and dance you’ve heard before the middle of each January, stop whatever you’re doing right now; schedule yourself to join us this weekend at Journey. When it comes to keeping our balance, look in the mirror and repeat after me: We’re better together.

Hey, bring a seat buddy; they’ll thank you later. Everybody is searching for a little balance this time of year. We’re just people.

Journey Saturday @ 6pm/Sunday @ 10:30am.
