Whatever you are doing right now, working at the office, housework, paperwork, or trying to relax in your comfy chair, unless we know for certain the expectations for our day, likely our day is not turning out very well. We all need to know what the expectation is before we can meet the task before us.
We are wrapping up a short series all about expectations. In the Bible God’s family was in constant disagreement with God who was in charge. Have you ever felt that way? Has it seemed you and God were in a running feud about almost everything?
If you are like me, I am sure you’ve wondered on certain days, what does God want? The prophet Micah clarified for God’s family in the Old Testament, making sure everyone could know what God expects of people. Here is the short version of the series.
“He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly (DO justice) and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8 NIV
God expects every Jesus follower to DO justice, making sure the person who is over looked and underserved, gets a fair shake. God also wants us to LOVE mercy more than justice. He wants us to let things go, sooner than later. Never hold a grudge, unless you want trouble with God. And finally, God expects we stay (WALK) humble whatever good fortune comes our way.
I’ve learned a few things about myself during this series. I’ve regained an insight that was needed once again. God is forever wanting to change me each day for the better. I can often settle for what I am today. God doesn’t want any of us to just settle; more is more, when it is more God.
If you don’t have a church family this weekend, find one to visit and check things out. Or if you’ve unable for health or transportation reasons to get out of the house, try to follow a message online, TV, or the radio. God will reach you wherever you are. He will find you and speak to you in your darkest corner or busiest street.
He is for you, not against you. He will help you clarify what His expectations are for you. Hope to see you at Journey soon or follow us online. Journey FB live stream each Sunday. Journey website www.journeychurchsite.org
