Give Away the Blessing
More and more people are helping and praying for strangers, family and each other. It seems the whole world has now become our neighborhood. Mr Rogers would be proud of us for sharing whatever we have for the good of mankind. It isn’t all sunny with roses; people still push and shove for the best spot in line. Our patience has worn thinner and the smallest frustration can sometimes send us over the edge. Still, I see hope for better days.
We are becoming, together, during CODI19 a better version of the human race. As CDC guidelines to practice social distancing were extended through April 30 for every state, town, and city the impact of COVID19 is felt by everyone. Even though the epicenter in America is New York City with more clusters than anywhere else in the nation, no one has escaped the invisible virus which traveled around the world. Pray for people we have never met in person. We are better together.
Just yesterday, I heard of a plane filled with medical volunteers from other locations flying to serve at the hotspots around New York. At times like these we can shine brighter when it seems darkest. Shout out to everyone working sacrificially for the good of everyone involved. Health care teams, food and delivery services, homebound teachers checking on students, neighbors checking on elderly, meals shared for the neediest, and more.
A crisis can be an opportunity to grow our faith in God and extend more kindness to others. This weekend at Journey online worship (Saturday@6pm and Sunday @10:30am) we wrap up our current series, I QUIT. This series has helped us all. Everything is timely right now. I QUIT making excuses, complaining, living in fear, and the final lesson, I QUIT, COMPARING.
All these relevant lessons are available on our website and Journey app. If you found these encouraging, share our Journey online location with others (www.journeychurchsite.org) and our Journey Church App, JCommunity.
Let me close with this PRAYER for you. Numbers 6:22-27 in the Bible, God instructed the priests to give the Israelites a blessing. In light of COVID19 and our battle with this virus, I am offering you the same, the God blessing. Read it slowly and thank our Father for this promise. Review it every day you are shuttered inside. Today, we all (who follow Jesus) represent God each day. (Not just clergy and pastors). Give away the blessing in your neighborhood.
“Then the LORD said to Moses, Tell Aaron and his sons to bless the people of Israel with this special blessing: ‘May the LORD bless you and protect you. May the LORD smile on you and be gracious to you. May the LORD show you his favor and give you his peace.’ Whenever Aaron and his sons bless the people of Israel in my name, I myself will bless them.” Numbers 6:22-27 NLT.
