Be Nice

Tomorrow our Governor is dropping mask mandates for the state of Kentucky. Every state is different how COVID19 protocols and vaccines were handled. This journey of eighteen months since the virus, before unknown, first appeared in the world has lasted longer than anyone imagined.

A sigh of relief is heard everywhere after vaccines and infection rates have rapidly declined. At the same time many people are now aware the impact the pandemic has had upon mental health. Anxiety, stress, and depression skyrocketed during long periods of isolation.

This weekend at Journey Community Christian Church we wrap up our current series, REFRESHED from Philippians in the Bible. This series has been helpful and supportive by addressing mental health from the Bible. If you missed any of these relevant topics check out our archived messages on the Journey website. journeychurchsite.org

Chapter one from Philippians we refreshed our thinking when circumstances interrupted our joy. Chapter two was a deeper dive into what happens people make things even worse. Chapter three was the invitation that too much stuff can distract us from really knowing God in a personal relationship.

Chapter four from Philippians will wrap up the summer positivity series by guiding us through three easy steps to less fret and worry by simply praying more. The key verse and sweet spot for less worry, more confidence and joy each day is Philippians 4:6-7.

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Our quest for real life and joy can be illusive. It can begin to feel like maybe it's just too late for me. Let me urge you to hang on; wait for it. Give God a chance to begin something new in your life. Ask God for some clarity about your future. He can REFRESH and renew your hopes and dreams.

If you have an hour to spare this weekend join us either in person or online. Arrive for worship gathering expecting God has a message for YOU. I promise things can happen when God is with us. Jesus changes everything. See you Sat@6pm or Sun@10:30am.

Everyone has a story of struggle right now. If you need a little encouragement and support give me a call. Let me buy you a meal or beverage. It’s nice to be nice. Now that most places have reopened for in person guests let’s catch up. We are better together.

And oh yeh, if you need a little boost I have a new fav song on KLOVE right now. Check out local artist, and friend of my family in Lexington, Anne Wilson, "My Jesus.” If life has depleted your resources, leaving you empty, check out this singer and her story about the song. Let’s do this, together. See you this weekend for some peace from the Bible called, REFRESH.
