“Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the reign of King Herod. About that time some wise men from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking, ‘Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star as it rose, and we have come to worship him.’ ” Matthew 2:1-2 NLT
God sent angels to announce Good News of the miraculous birth; Jesus is born in Bethlehem, just as the Prophet had said (Micah 5:1-2). The angels came first to lowly shepherds watching their flocks by night. But there was more, much more, to be told. God guided and spoke to nobility, the Wise Men from afar. They were following the Star in the sky to where Jesus was born. Jesus changes everything. Shepherds and Wise Men; God is for everyone.
As we celebrate Christmas 2021 with family and friends, God comes to our homes, asking us to share Good News of Jesus birth. We are to sing and share the announcement of Jesus birth with people, far and wide. People need to know. “Go tell it in the mountain, Jesus Christ is born.” God enlists everyone celebrating the birth of Jesus, to share this GIFT with others.
As we open presents under the Christmas tree with laughter, family, friends, and food nearby, may we once again tell the world about our most wonderful GIFT: Baby Jesus, born in Bethlehem, and Savior of the world. You may even want to read the Christmas story out the Bible with your family before opening presents (Luke 2). This was a Christmas tradition Connie and I shared with our children when they were small.
We INVITE you to join us this weekend (Dec25/26) for Journey Sat@6pm or Sun@10:30am. If you are unable to join in person with family during Christmas weekend, maybe join online and celebrate with us our JOY.
We will share from the Bible part two of our Christmas series, THE GIFT. Christmas magnifies everything. Our blessings of good health, warm home, and food with family become even larger and important at Christmas. Unfortunately, our disappointment and troubles loom larger also.
Christmas helps us move forward when we feel stuck by circumstances. We find hope in Jesus Name which means: “God with us.”
After seeing the baby Jesus born in Bethlehem, worshipping Him, this week we find that God has the habit of INTERVENING on our behalf, just when things seem to go wrong. Join us this weekend and receive renewed hope and encouragement from the Christmas message in the Bible.
It will be the BEST way to end strong in 2021. We are better together. MERRY CHRISTMAS!
