Today is my wedding anniversary. Connie and I celebrate 49 years of marriage. We are almost halfway to 100 years. You might give her a big shout out and congrats. She is a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and lifelong friend and companion in God’s mission on earth. I do not exaggerate the endless hours and number of people who’ve enjoyed her positive influence. Those who know her as a friend have enjoyed her music and mentoring through years of serving others. Happy Anniversary Dear!
July is the month of weddings and birthdays. I am sure you know someone with an anniversary or birthday right now. Go out of your way and tell them congrats. It’s nice to be nice. Make some time in your busy summer schedule to schedule a lunch or coffee. Go the extra mile to celebrate everything.
July is also halfway through our year, 2021. Wow, let’s get this summer thing going again. Maybe make some vacation plans before fall and winter. Most of us make New Year’s Resolutions to change something for the better. Then about two weeks into our quest for something better in our life, we grow discouraged. It’s OK to not finish something; just don’t give up on your dreams.
Can I tell you a dirty little secret? Trying, over and over is how everyone succeeds. Who cares, if we didn’t make it the first time. Thomas Edison failed miserably as an inventor of the light bulb. He tried unsuccessfully 1,000 times with no luck. Then boom, the light bulb came on. In 1832 Abraham Lincoln lost his job. A few years later he lost his wife and had a nervous breakdown. He tried and failed in business and politics for years and then was elected President of the United States of America in 1860. Never quit, never give up.
Halfway through the year is as good a time as any. We can choose to restart something we began, way back in January. Don’t let dreams and goals die too soon. This weekend at Journey we are exploring a lesson from the Bible for breaking free of addictions. Part three in our summer series, THE BUCKET LIST will guide our thoughts and thinking into more positive attitudes. Whatever challenges we face, remember, we are better together.
Join us this weekend and bring a summer seat buddy to a place everyone can feel welcome and right at home. No matter what personal battles in life we are facing, God promises to help us make important changes. If you are an insomniac, never getting enough sleep, or just wanting to lose a few pounds before summer vacation, this Bible outline will give you a boost of energy for making those better choices.
See you this weekend if you are in town. Join us Saturday@6pm or Sunday@10:30am. Let’s do this. Halfway through the year is a great time to start or restart your Journey Church habit again! Looking forward to seeing you either in person or online.
WE got this.
