We are living in a time where the ancient is often forgotten. The shelf life and expiration date for things we consume daily is shortened. Today, November 11th is Veteran’s Day in America. We should all give thanks for the 1.4 million active duty military willing to defend our freedom and nation. We should never forget the sacrifice and commitment of the nineteen million veterans who have previously served our country.
People who serve others should never be forgotten. I was included in a Veteran’s Day Facebook post as a veteran myself. Over the years I enjoyed sharing food and conversation with other veteran’s on this day. Older men and women gather to recall events and people who helped change the world for better. Never forget.
This weekend at Journey Community Christian Church we gather to remember the sacrifice Jesus made on the Cross. There will be music to enjoy and relevant message from the Bible. Laughter and smiles will be given away for free. However, the main event for the occasion each time we gather is Jesus. He is reason our life is possible today. His sacrifice for our sins bring hope to the world. Never forget.
I encourage you to take a moment today and reflect upon the Veterans who have given their lives and served this country. When you see a soldier in uniform, you can tip your hat. If you have a military photo of a loved one who served, maybe post it today on social media. American History matters in our nation today. Patriotism is not dead unless we stop talking about it.
Also, I want to encourage you to remember Jesus and His Church which gathers all around the world. If you have been delayed in coming back in person with a local church family make this your motive for moving back inside when healthy: Jesus is worth it.
Invite a friend or seat buddy to check out our current series, MIRACLES OF JESUS. This weekend we’re exploring a passage in Mark 916-22a when a father pleads with Jesus to make his child well again. If you’re in a season of life and are waiting for your miracle this Bible event is sure to help. If doubts have crept in about faith? If you are unclear the importance of gathering for worship, if you feel stuck in this moment, this father’s weakening faith in the Bible has the answer for us today. He simply says, “Jesus, help me to believe!”
Make this the day, Veteran’s Day and maybe a moment to jog your memory of those who serve. Never forget. Make this weekend a time to remember the sacrifice Jesus made for everyone. Never forget.
See you soon at Journey Church Cynthiana in person and online. Journey Saturday @6pm and Sunday@10:30am.
