Instructions for Assembly
I confess, my strength has never been reading the instructions inside the box. When the kids were small, Santa sometimes left packages under the tree needing “some assembly.” I tried my best, usually tearing open numerous plastic baggie with assembly parts. Then, I spread all the nuts and bolts on the floor. Next, I attempted to make sense of numbered sequential steps to follow in writing for perfect completion.
Frustrated, I usually tossed aside the white paper with directions to follow. They were written in foreign languages like Spanish, Chinese, and even the English sounded like I was back in school; flunking an impossible pop quiz. Connie, my always patient wife usually had to step in, reading slowly, step by step, over and over, the translated instructions for me.
Finally, the assembled project was completed, tucked safely beneath the Christmas tree for the next morning.
This weekend at Journey Community Christian Church we launch our fall series, Vital Church. This series is right off the pages of the Bible from Titus. It is written by the Apostle Paul, to his good friend and protege, Titus. Paul the older, wiser mentor of the younger Titus, shares vital instructions for LEADING with success, RELATING to all age groups, BEING an example in public each day.
I could be wrong, but it seems people at times avoid reading the Bible. Personally, for similar reasons, I don’t like reading long; hard to understand assembly instructions. If this resonates with you, let me encourage everyone: give the Bible a try again. This really short letter in the Bible, jut three chapters, 896 words, can be a source Book of very helpful and relevant instructions for our personal life success.
If you’ve ever felt like it would be nice to have a simple version of Bible instructions, clearly translated in a language you understood, this series may be for you and others you know. I promise this will not be like trying to read pages of assembly instructions in a foreign language for a new product you just brought home from Walmart.
Join us this weekend Journey Sat@6pm or Sun@10:30am. Both in person and online; bring a guest. This first message we are going to explore strategy from the Bible for teaming with the right people, seeking TRUTH always.
We believe Journey Church is the kind of place anyone might want to belong. We always like to say, “Come and check things out; we have guarantee.” You don’t have to come back if you don’t like it. Honestly, I’m telling the TRUTH: most people do return and enjoy our mission to reach, connect and engage new people.
We believe Church is VITAL for everyone; not everyone knows, so, we have to tell everyone. We believe there is a God-sized plan for the Church in the Bible which still exists today in our world. Let’s talk about it, together.
We are better together. More TRUTH !
