Labels

Maybe one of the most recognizable labels in the world today is the trademark Nike, “Just Do It” and “Swoosh” symbol. Nike Inc. was made forever famous by Michael Jordan as their sponsor with his lineup of basketball shoes. Nike. Inc. was valued at $32 billion in 2020, making it the most valuable brand among sports businesses.

Names and symbols have always helped identify or clarify people and their purpose. The Church worldwide through the centuries has long been recognized by ornate building architecture and design. Cathedrals throughout Europe house famous museum pieces of art and paintings. Stained glass windows and steeples date back centuries.

Today, the local church has modernized and enlarged their style and fingerprint with various types of church design and locations. Journey Community Christian Church is a good example of outward focused churches in non-typical buildings and unconventional neighborhoods.

Journey does not own our building location. We are leasing 6,000 square feet in a shopping mall strip next door to Auto Zone. Strategically Journey and other evangelistic churches have chosen locations where people and businesses intersect each day. The hope is this may help us to introduce Journey Church to people who don’t go to church.

2021 presents all of us with new challenges for better health. In addition to COVID19 and vaccine concerns, I believe, our verbal communication skills have weakened. For months and months in-person conversations were replaced with virtual connections. Instead of chatting for hours with friends around a table with food and drink, we’ve had to pivot to more one-way communication; listening to recorded messages, streaming messages and podcasts.

None of this is completely bad news. Innovative forms of communication are a blessing for the world in every generation. However, hybrid forms of personal communication clearly have advantages and disadvantages. Who hasn’t said this, when trying to get customer service, “I just wish I could talk to a real person!” Effective communication, sharing words, ideas, and information is always better, when in-person talk is possible.

Going forward 2021, we will have more options which help build community with people. Invite others to try our FB streaming worship and Zoom small groups until we are able to have in-person times again. We are better together. Join us this weekend at Journey Church Cynthiana, Sat@6pm/Sun@10:30am. We share helpful Bible words in another outline describing our personal freedom in Christ. Get a head start. Take a look at the Apostle Paul’s guidance found in Galatians 5:13-26.

Journey has earned a label and brand as the kind of church everyone could call home. This is never intended to be a one-sided conversation sort of place. We care, God cares. People Matter Most.

We would love to have a conversation, in-person or online. Let us know how to support you through whatever challenges have lingered this past year for you and your family.

Let’s just talk; we promise to listen and learn more together. That’s our Journey label and brand.
