No Doubt

Lingering questions still linger regarding COVID19, political uncertainty, economic recovery, and more in 2021. Who can predict when children will return to school in person, everywhere? Will churches ever see in-person attendance once again the size before a pandemic appeared? How soon will vaccines accelerate the recovery of what used to be known as “normal” events?

People having uncertainty and questions regarding future life is not a new, modern phenomena. People in every generation have had their own series of life questions. Even in the Bible people frequently struggled to find God’s clear voice in their personal human experiences.

This series will help us find reassurance once again in the Bible, whatever questions or concerns are trending today in our wold. A favorite character study in the Bible of trusting God always, whatever happens is David. His life was at times filled with rejection and betrayal by friends and foe. Other times his faith prepared him to take down giants.

Through it all he never wavered in trusting God more. He exclaimed God is forever Sovereign in this world. David wrote many of the Psalms from his own personal doubts, fears, failures, and eventual faith. Psalm 9, displays David communicating unwavering faith, never doubt God’s ability!

“But the LORD reigns forever, executing judgment from his throne. He will judge the world with justice and rule the nations with fairness. The LORD is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O LORD, do not abandon those who search fro you.” Psalm 9:7-10 NLT

God truly is sovereign. When we pray, we ask for His help. Sometimes we may not receive what was requested, or hoped for; David urges, trust God anyway. The author of 1, 2, 3 John is the Apostle John, who also wrote the Gospel of John. 42 times in the Letter of 1 John the author, John speaking to believers shares a clear, reassuring message: As Christ followers we can live a life of confidence and certainty.

There are clearly lingering questions many people have regarding important and unclear situations in 2021. However, this weekend at Journey we’ll share a few words from the Bible which can inspire us to never give up and trust God more. Why? Because God is Sovereign!

Can people ever be certain of anything? This weekend at Journey Church in-person and online, we rediscover the answer revealed in 1 John 1-10 = YES! Yes, we can all discover the reassurance there is a WAY to experience confidence and certainty in God’s forever forgiveness.
