Not a Gimmick

“This is what the LORD says: ‘You will be in Babylon for seventy years. But then I will come and do for you all the good things I have promised, and I will bring you home again. For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the LORD. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.’ ” Jeremiah 29:10-11 NLT

Because of repeated unbelief and disobedience to God the people of Israel were defeated, then exiled to Babylon by King Nebuchadnezzar. Many became discouraged and wondered if God would ever return, to rescue them. Many people we know today are feeling overwhelmed by circumstance in life. Tell someone, anyone, it’s not over!

This weekend at Journey Church Cynthiana we are wrapping up our summer series, KNOWING GOD. Knowing God as LORD has always been quite a mystery to people; people like us today. Trusting God even when our life has not worked out as expected can be really hard. This last episode in our summer series will help us discover God always has a plan for blessing His people.

However, one thing is clear in the Bible, knowing God, receiving blessings is not a gimmick, trick, or sleight of hand with some grand illusion of a loving God. Knowing God requires our faith and trust even when all odds are stacked against us. If you are having an especially difficult time right now, wondering what is God waiting for, this weekend message can really help us grow our faith.

“And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.” Hebrews 11:6 NLT

Sooner or later, everyone will ask this question: “Does God love me, or is He mad at me?” In this Bible series we have discovered God is both wrath and grace. He is angered by our stubborn disobedience, continued sin, just like Israel in the Old Testament. However, the Good News, through Jesus, death, burial, and resurrection, (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) everyone can now receive grace and forgiveness of sin, and promise of eternal life.

Invite a GUEST as we wrap up up this series at Journey Church Cynthiana this weekend. Just share, this is a kind of place, most people come inside, getting a breath of fresh air. This message from the Bible will stretch us to grow more faith, trust God more, and follow God more. Put every doubt aside, God is for us, not against us. He is turning things around right now.

He has a SPECIFIC plan for your life and mine. If you are in town this weekend join us Journey Sat@6pm/Sun@10:30am. Let’s check this out together. We really are better together.

Knowing God better is worth it…. Always!
