Priorities

Connie and I have one more day with our son and his family in Canada. Then we fly back to be with you at Journey Community Christian Church this weekend. We’re kicking off our three week Christmas series, What’s Christmas About?

This seems like such a non-starter for Christmas. However, in our secular culture today many of our friends truly are uninformed regarding the bigger view of God in the Bible at Christmas. The Christmas holiday has become very commercialized with marketing expensive gifts. We are in search of finding the perfect gift to place under the tree.

This first weekend we’ll take a look at how our daily priorities are shaped by what we believe about God each day. The Bible makes clear that Christmas is God’s idea for each of us to receive the only PERFECT gift which is Jesus, born in Bethlehem.

Billy Graham once said, “Many of us have put our faith in money, jobs, status, gadgets, pleasures, and thrills. Many of us - and society as a whole - have tried to bypass God, and now we are paying the inevitable price. We are in trouble because we have left out God.”

Christmas is about God. Our priorities should reflect our faith in God; especially during the season of Christmas. The answer to our cultural crisis of divisive words and self-seeking desires is found at Christmas. More God, everywhere, for everyone is our only hope of the world.

The gift of God ’s Son demonstrates His love for each of us. Christ came not because we were worthy of such love but because God loves people (John 3:16. He created us in His image so we might love one another (I John 4:7-8). Because of Christmas we find the only answer for bringing Peace to the world.

“Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.” Luke 2:14 NLT

JOIN US…. Bring a friend as we launch our Christmas series for everyone. If you are like me, I can always use a little help getting my priorities line up, especially at Christmastime. Connie and I look forward to seeing each of you at the Journey front door this weekend.

We’re talking and singing about new and fresh Christmas discoveries in the Bible… and this weekend - PRIORITIES: 3 vital steps for letting Jesus reign in our hearts each day and the whole month of December.
