“As soon as Jesus heard the news (John the Baptist was executed v. 1-12), he left in a boat to a remote area to be alone. But the crowds heard where he was headed and followed on foot from many towns. Jesus saw the huge crowd as he stepped from the boat, and he had compassion on them and healed their sick.
That evening the disciples came to him and said, ‘This is a remote place, and it is already getting late. Send the crowds away so they can go to the villages and buy food for themselves.’ But Jesus said, ‘That isn’t necessary-you feed them.’ ‘But we have only five loaves of bread and two fish!’ they answered.
‘Bring them here,’ he said. Then he told the people to sit down on the grass. Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them. Then breaking the loaves into pieces, he gave the bread to the disciples, who distributed it to the people. They all ate as much as they wanted, and afterward, the disciples picked up twelve baskets of leftovers. About 5,000 men were fed that day, in addition to all the women and children.” Matthew 14:13-21 NLT
This weekend is Father’s Day weekend. Journey Church is excited to invite all dad’s and grandads and people of influence to join us for our Journey Sat@6pm or Sun@10:30am. We are having special items just for guys on the Journey coffee bar. All I have heard is that it is good and has lots meat on top. Just saying.
Also I have planned a special one time Father’s Day message which includes a short film that is a modern day interpretation of the hymn writer, Robert Robinson who penned “Come Thou Fount.” Robinson’s dad passed away when he was only eight years old. It forever affected his life. In 1757, Robert Robinson penned the words to the famous hymn, “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing.” This modern short film illustrates the struggle Robinson had in finding joy and purpose in his life. Clearly the take-away of redemption and forgiveness are themes every dad can appreciate.
Also, I will make some take-aways for every dad to learn once again Jesus words what leadership and influence looks like. I will describe how every dad and granddad or influencer can create a legacy by leaving behind a RIPPLE in the world.
Join us this weekend in person or online. Bring a guest to a place where you will leave feeling better than when you came. It is a place most people would return often. God is going to bless our music and message this weekend. Hope you can join us.
