“Saturday evening, when the Sabbath ended, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome went out and purchased burial spices so they could anoint Jesus’ body. Very early on Sunday morning, just at sunrise, they went to the tomb. On the way they were asking each other, ‘Who will roll away the tone for us from the entrance to the tomb?’
But as they arrived, they looked up and saw the stone, which was very large, had already been rolled aside. When they entered the tomb, they saw a young man clothed in a white robe sitting on the right side. The women were shocked, but the angel said, ‘Don’t be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Look, this is where they laid his body. Now go and tell his disciples, including Peter, that Jesus is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there, just as he told you before he died.’ The women fled from the tomb, trembling and bewildered, and they said nothing to anyone because they were too frightened. ” Mark 16:1-8
This weekend is Easter everywhere. God is not dead. In a world which often seems divided this resurrection event changes everything. Journey Community Christian Church would love to have you be our guest in person & online. We will celebrate Jesus is risen from the dead; Jesus changes everything.
Journey Church wants to tell everyone Jesus is for them, not against them. If you are uncertain about your beliefs or maybe just frightened by uncertainties in the world, it’s ok, to not be ok. We believe that our Journey Easter worship gathering will be a safe place for you to feel welcome and right at home.
It is the first step of faith toward God that is often the hardest. Even for those who had boots on the ground at the tomb, the women and disciples of Jesus, believing Jesus was alive seemed, too much. Later, Jesus appeared to them in person and revival broke out in the city of Jerusalem; thousands were baptized into Jesus Name. Acts 2:38-41.
We have already scheduled a baptism for the Journey Saturday@6pm Easter service. Following our worship last week a Journey guest asked if he could make this personal decision on Easter weekend with his family in the audience.
Maybe you are ready and would like to consider getting your Jesus story started or being baptized during Easter celebrations? Give me a call 859.588.6642 and we will arrange for your decision, public or private. Journey Church is on a Jesus mission to TELL EVERYONE the Good News.
For fifty days after Easter morning Jesus continued to appear with various people confirm He was alive. Before His ascension back to heaven Jesus gave final instructions to His followers, TELL EVERYONE.
“And then he told them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone. Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved.” Mark 16:15-16a NLT.
You are invited to join us at Journey Community Christian Church in Cynthiana, Ky. Let us know if we can help you get your Jesus story moving again or for the first time. TELL EVERYONE!
