Bobby's Thursday Blog

Together

A friend of mine posted a short dog video on Facebook. This dog was the breed of dog which herds sheep. The one minute video shows the quick moving dog gathering sheep into the barn during a dangerous winter storm. This dog was taking commands off camera from the sheep farmer on the video. The dog swiftly moved these cold, wandering sheep into a tight circle moving them to safety. Clearly the dog recognized and followed their owners voice commands. In addition the sheep felt comforted being guided by the sheep dog.

On our worst days life can feel like we’ve become stranded in the coldest Midwest winter storm on record. Dangerous winds with blizzard conditions threaten our health and safety. We may feel isolated, confused and wandering alone. We need a familiar voice and friend to arrive who will guide us safely home. His name is Jesus.

You and I may be wandering sheep in the world even after we follow Jesus. Jesus is the Good Shepherd and we are the sheep of His pasture. Many people we know have never considered themselves a lost or wandering “sheep.” Take a moment and read Jesus words in John 10:1-5; 11-18. If you get a chance, share with others your own story of rescue. Explain how you discovered the kind voice of Jesus the Good Shepherd.

This weekend at Journey Community Christian Church we wrap up the fall series, VITAL CHURCH, taken from one of the shortest letters in the Bible. Titus is just three chapters long and 896 words in total. However, it is packed full of helpful practical life lessons for living our best version of life, whatever storms may come.

If you have missed any of the episodes they are always available on our Journey Church Cynthiana website. If you found any of these life lessons from the Bible helpful you might want to give your best five-star recommendation to a friend or family member to check them out also.

This weekend in our Journey Sat@6pm and Sun@10:30am gathering time we consider the final few verses in chapter three. (Titus 3:9-15). If you want a few cliff notes to get started, we’ll explore how important “sheep” like us… do life together and work together when unfriendly weather arrives.

INVITE a seat buddy to come and join YOU in either of our two Journey services. We really are better together. Jesus is for everybody! INVITE a guest to join us at Journey Church in person or online.

Just share with them what you have discovered: Jesus the Good Shepherd changes everything!
