God is always at work, turning things around. He is busy making things better; in our lives and in our world. He is working in us, around us, right now! Just think about that for a moment before feeling anxious, again.
“For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him. Do everything without complaining and arguing, so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked perverse people. Hold firmly to the word of life; then, on the day of Christ’s return, I will be proud that I did not run the race in vain and that my work was not useless.” Philippians 2:13-16 NLT
This text from Philippians clearly states we (followers of Jesus) are all invited into a divine partnership with God in the world. God uses people to help turn things around. If you feel our world is a messy place (and who doesn’t); regularly getting God’s message of faith, hope and love (1 Corinthians 13:13), twisted around, have no fear; it’s not over! God is working on it. He is turning things around every day.
The Church and the family are primary tools for making the greatest God impact in our chaotic world. God clearly intends that we do our best imitating a bright shining light in every dark corner of the world. When the world is darkest, Jesus shines brightest.
This weekend, Connie and I are planning to be away for a couple days. Bryan Martinez, Journey Church Youth & Family minister
is speaking for me. He has a terrific back-to-school message that you do not want to miss. Today, in our community is the first day of school for families. What an appropriate time for Bryan to share from his heart an outline from the Bible which describes his heart and passion for youth and families.
Connie and I return next weekend to launch a new FOUR WEEK series, LIVING BEYOND MYSELF. I want to thank everyone who helped with generous gifts dropped in the Tide Jug the past two weekends. This resourced us to purchase $404 worth (7 pairs) shoes for kids going back to school.
Also you contributed another $568 for a Journey family member connection needing Flood Relief in Eastern, Ky. Tide Jug donations this weekend also go to the same family for Flood Relief. You guys at Journey Church are the most generous givers of your resources to help others. We do this every single day in our community.
Finally, just smile a lot, today. God is good. Our weekend weather is going to feel fall like with temperatures in the 50’s at night. This will be a perfect time to grab your sweater, come inside with a guest. Tell everyone the “young dude” is speaking for the “old dude.”
WE can help God… are you in? You know… TURN-THINGS- AROUND… let’s be… shining bright lights… INVITE family and friends to join you…. Journey Church weekend.
See you next time….
