Why do we do that?

We are wrapping up our five-week summer series, Elements. We have been answering some of the WHY questions people have in church. WHY we DO… what we do every week? Is there a good reason?

We have explored together things like WHY we take communion? WHY we take an offering? WHY we sing? WHY we preach? What’s this all about? In the final episode we cover a topic you may see happen each weekend. WHY we baptize?

Join us this weekend Journey Church Sat@6pm or Sun@10:30am. This weekend we are discovering what the Bible says about baptism. If you have never made a personal decision for baptism this lesson is sure to help you understand more clearly the Bible on this topic. We already have one person who is planning for their baptism. Someone may decide to be baptized at the conclusion of the worship time this weekend.

That would be fantastic. Just step forward and let me know. Or message me before the service and I will have everything ready. We have extra towels, T-shirts, and shorts you can wear during the baptism. Also, we can schedule your baptism for a future date when family and friends can be with you. Join us this weekend and take a few notes. Then let us know how to help you.

Invite a family member or friend this weekend who may consider baptism for them-selves. We have an instructional hand-out for anyone who would like to do some research before making a decision. This hand-out answers questions such as - Who Should Be Baptized? How Should We Be Baptized? When Should We be Baptized? Why Should We Baptized?

One of our core values at Journey Community Christian Church = The Bible is our final authority. Many people want to know our doctrine concerning salvation. We let the Bible answer that question. We believe a person is saved by God’s love and mercy by God’s grace. Nothing man can do would earn him the salvation of God. It is a free gift from God attained by faith (Ephesians 2:8, James 2:14-26), through grace, at baptism. (Acts 2:38).

If you want a few Bible references for salvation here they are: 1 - HEAR the Gospel (Romans 10:17) 2- BELIEVE in Jesus (John 3:16, Acts 16:32) 3 - REPENT of our sins (Acts 2:38, 17:30). 4 - CONFESS Jesus as LORD (Romans 10:9-10) 5 - BAPTISM (immersed) into Jesus (Acts 2:38, Romans 6:3-6, 1 Peter 3:21).

Let me know if you have questions regarding baptism as described in the Bible. We are better together. Journey Church is the kind of place lots of people are able to get their Jesus story started. Others arrive and are able to restart their Jesus story again with renewed enthusiasm.

In whatever way you find helpful, let us guide, coach, and instruct you this weekend in another exciting time of worship celebration.

Let’s do this. Make plans now to schedule some time this weekend to join us Journey Church Cynthiana. God is forever joining with us…. turning things around. Go God!
