Worship

Do you sing in the shower? What about your car? I saw guy pull up beside me at a stoplight with his window rolled down, letting it go. He was belting out all the words to his favorite tune it appeared.

When I first stated going to church, I never sang. I didn’t know the songs for one thing. I sure didn’t want to draw attention to myself in a crowd where I didn’t know everyone or what the church routine was about.

This weekend at Journey Community Christian Church we continue the summer series, THE BUCKET LIST. This time we’ll discover The Bucket List of things to do, before too late, we should include WORSHIP of God on that list.

If you are new to our Journey Church weekend WORSHIP routine, you may feel like I did when I was new to church? Maybe you are feeling a little concerned, not wanting to do something wrong, weird or embarrassing?

I thought I might dig out some notes modified from earlier days of study which help guide anyone to better understand public gathering times for worship. Below is a list of a few of those Biblical facts included in worship. Enjoy and hope to see you this weekend in-person or online for Journey Sat@6pm/Sunday@10:30am.

1- Be baptized by immersion because Jesus was (Matthew 3:15).

2- Live fully, not by bread alone, but every word that is from God (Matthew 4:4).

3- Worship the LORD your God, and Him only (Matthew 4:10).

4- Seek Jesus more than anything; be like Him (Matthew 6:33).

5- Repent of sins and believe the Good News (Mark 1:15).

6- Worship God in spirit and in truth (John 4:24).

7- Turn to God, be baptized and receive the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38).

8- Be devoted to the teaching in the Bible, fellowship, communion, and prayer (Acts 2:38).

9- Take and eat this bread, representing my body. Do in remembrance of Me (Mark14:22).

10- Give your bodies, yourselves as living sacrifice to God (Romans 12:1).

11- Stand firm in faith. Be courageous. Be strong (I Corinthians 16:13).

12- Pray in the Spirit about everything. Stay alert and persistent (Ephesians 6:18).

13- Whatever happens, rejoice in the LORD (Philippians 3:1).

14- Set your heart on things above, where Jesus is (Colossians 3:1).

15- Be humble. Resist the devil (James 4:7).

16- Turn your worries over to God (1 Peter 5:7).

17- Fear God. Worship God. Give glory to God (Revelation 14:7).
