A Good Day Gone Bad

Do you know what I would do right now,  if, if I could? I’d grab a coffee or a bite to eat with you, my treat. Why would I do that? I would like to catch up, ask a couple questions; How has your summer been so far? What’s the most exciting thing that has

happened? What’s the worst thing ever? Stuff like that; not to be nosy. Friends need to keep up.

Since I can’t meet with all of you at once, I’ll share a few thoughts here, today. Let’s pretend we’re enjoying a conversation in some coffee shop or restaurant you enjoy. After listening to your summer travels the last couple of months, I would share summer ideas I’ve been carrying around. I write a lot. I share a lot of words. God uses everything. Let’s talk more.

If you can picture us talking right now, I’d share some of my personal stuff too. Things like birthdays and anniversaries. But I would really like to invite you to check out our final episode of the current Journey Church summer series, DO SOMETHING. Then I would ask you to consider bringing a guest this weekend to our JourneySat@6pm or Journey Sun@10:30am. I would try to recruit you to partner with us and bring a seat buddy. Why not give it a shot!

I would even give you a money-back guarantee. If your guest says the service was boring and that preacher stinks—nobody was friendly—you don’t have to return. Fair enough? Good News is most people do want to return often, once they arrive, checking things out.  We don’t bug people; we love people. If you don’t have a good experience, we’ll say, “We’re sorry.”

This final lesson in the summer series is practical lessons from the early, first century Church that Jesus started. We all can use a little advice from the Bible. Especially when things have been going great in our life, then suddenly everything seems to fall apart. Who hasn’t said, “Didn’t see that coming!”

Things take off in the early church like “gang busters.” Everyone is happy, excited, inviting new people to Come and See… what a Jesus Church is all about. But then there are people, with a few relationship mistakes, misunderstandings. We’re not Jesus. People like us have strong opinions. Friends like us have words, stuff like that. Next thing you know it feels like a Good day, gone bad.

We’re all searching for a few tips for a better future and more success. Jump in here with us this weekend. Grab a seat and cup of coffee. Take a few notes which apply too your situation. God will take care of the rest. God will move you into a better direction. Happens every time. Why not check things out with a few other people. We are better together.

Let’s find some guidelines for loving God and loving people, extremewhatever it takes. Go God!
