Let’s talk sports for a minute. If you like Major League Baseball, who is your favorite team? As a fan, what do you hope may occur? Most of us want our team to win. We hope they can sweep a four game series. We hope they can win their division. Ultimately, our dream is they might become World Series Champions.

When our favorite team is struggling, every fan has opinions about what is wrong. Maybe our bullpen is never adequate? Or injuries on the field have taken out best players out of the lineup. A faithful fan is informed and wise; they know what it takes to win baseball games consistently. We hope changes can be made before the season ends.
In a similar way, let’s think, for a second about the four week series, MORE…God is more than enough … taken from the Ezra in the Bible. We’ve discovered God was like the General Manger of a baseball team. He had the Israelites, His family in the Bible, all lined up for a great season ahead. Because of disobedience, Israel had been in Babylonian captivity for 70 years (2 Chronicles 36:21; Ezra 1:1).
After 70 years, God was now ready to do something new in the world. In part one from Ezra, chapters 1-3, Ezra describes when starting over…God is enough, more than enough. The Bible clarifies It is never easy, but never impossible to get a fresh start with God. In part two, chapters 4-6, Ezra explains God is enough, more than enough, during every stage of life. In part three, chapters 7-8, Ezra says God is enough, more than enough; during every period of life God is our secret to success.
Finally, this weekend at Journey Church Cynthiana we’ll discover in the last episode, God is enough, more than enough, when a do-over, and needing grace. This final outline is very relevant for people today. We’ve all enjoyed the kindness and mercy of God one our worst day. We’ve rediscovered hope when others gave up one us. In this last part of Ezra and his message, we answer an import question: What does God expect from me?
Like a professional baseball team who was always in the cellar and never very good, what happens we our team really gels, coming together and winning successfully? How do we handle our success? What is needed to stay on top of our game. What does the coach in the dugout and the General Manger want us to do? How can we continue competing and playing well?
Join us this weekend Journey Sat@6pm/Sun@10:30am grab a seat inside/online. Let’s get our worship going together. We are better together.
No one wants an average, mediocre baseball team. No one really wants to be an average, mediocre Jesus follower. Pull on inside, let’s share a few tips in the Bible which really make a big difference.
God is enough, more than enough…. for everyone. Are you in?
