Make It An Adventure

A friend of mine is nearing retirement age. He is not ready to slow down. He leads an international mission for orphan children in Africa. They provide food, healthcare, education and job training. In his free time he likes to hike. But not just the normal walking trails at a local city park.

My adventurous friend is training for his climb of Kilimanjaro in July. At 22,000 feet you need oxygen the last 8,000 feet to reach the summit. Did I say he has a bad knee from an injury?  And this is his fourth climb to the top of a mountain? I saw him last week and he said, I like to hike. My friend is inspiring to many people. I am one of them.

What about you? What big adventure or caper are you training for to inspire other people? We should all be using each day as an opportunity. What do you think? It’s never too late to get started at something you’ve dreamed about.

This weekend we’re returning to the part of the Bible history where God raised leaders to lead, build, and restore their home, city, and place of worship. This was a really big task but it turned out to be another big God adventure. Doing hard things when God is with us always turn out for good. God is good.

Sometimes in life there are not work-arounds, short cuts to take. Like my friend climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in a few months, training and preparing well makes the adventure more fun. In the Bible we are sharing this weekend how, when others gave up, Ezra the priest was able to finish the job with God’s help in record time. How did he do it?

Join us in person and online at Journey Church Cynthiana this weekend - Journey Sat@6pm or Journey Sun@10:30am. Everybody has an opinion about success and hard work. The Bible (Ezra chapters 7-8, if you want to read ahead) gives us God’s secret sauce for success. Check things out and join us for another exciting adventure from the Bible. Whatever God-sized job we’ve been given and are facing, let’s discover how to enjoy the opportunity and adventure with some enthusiasm. Go God.

Everyone I know would like to stop running from their fears of the unknown. Spiders and snakes may freak us out, but with God by our side, even our worst fears subside. Tell a friend to come and be YOUR guest. Help them get started in a regular routine which helps us enjoy more adventures in life.

Let’s talk about it - let’s make this life a real adventure… God is enough, more than enough… whatever the challenges. God is the Secret to Success!
