Every successful public speaker and writer knows staying fresh with new material is challenging. It is difficult to keep producing winning material consistently. Each time I step away from a message or article, several questions pop into my mind. "Was this the message/article God intended? How was it received? What might I have done to make this even better? What did I leave out?"
I am not sure where I got this joke... I used it years ago. Anonymous: “Preacher, I’ve never heard a sermon, but what I got some good out of it. But in all honesty, I had some pretty close calls.”
Some of our work is better than others. This is true in every profession. We’re not Jesus. Nobody gets its right all the time. But, Jesus never gets it wrong! Do what Jesus did. Say what Jesus said. This is the winning recipe for the world. Jesus changes everything.
This weekend at Journey Church Cynthiana we’re diving back into Galatians in the Bible. This time we’ll grab a few verses found in Galatians 5:1-12. We’ve been working our way through this material this fall. The title of our study is FREE. Jesus came into the world on a mission to set people FREE (Galatians 5:1; John 10:10).
Jesus is the Blue Ribbon winning recipe which makes everything in this world, and the next, way better! Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.
If you’ve been striving to please God for years, wearing the right clothes, sitting in the right church, saying the right words, and still feeling unworthy, check out the message this weekend at Journey Church Cynthiana. Our quest to make God happy is not out of our reach. You and I can do this. We are better together. God has a better plan for each of us (Jeremiah 29:11).
How does a person go about making God happy? What if trying harder doesn’t work? What then? Putting all this together, Jesus Good News, the answer we’re looking for is that finding favor with God is no longer rule based through daily sacrifice with priests (Old Testament - Law) but relationship based (New Testament - Grace) through Jesus' sacrifice for all, for all-time; our sins on the Cross. Wow God (John 3:16).
Jesus is the winning recipe everyone is searching for in life. The tricky part of this recipe, is each person must choose for themselves. God will never sit us down and force a Jesus decision upon anyone. It’s a matter of God’s love and our personal choice.
If this sounds helpful and relevant block some time this weekend for Journey Sat@6pm/Sun@10:30am. Bring someone with you and help guide them through a few life changing verses in the Bible. What are we/they afraid of? Push back fear and find faith. Every day we choose a Jesus life or fear. Either way, it’s our choice.
Tell somebody - Jesus is our winning recipe.
