Monday Night Football game suspended after player Damar Hamlin collapses on field.
Buffalo Bills players and staff pray for Buffalo Bills’ Damar Hamlin during the first half of an NFL football game against the Cincinnati bengals, Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, in Cincinnati. Damar Hamlin is a twenty-four-year-old safety for the Buffalo Bills… Nine minutes into last night’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals, he tackled a Bengals receiver… Hamlin quickly stood up, took two steps, collapsed backward, and his body went limp.
The Bills said later that Hamlin had suffered cardiac arrest on the field; his heartbeat was restored and he was taken to a Cincinnati hospital… listed in critical condition. THE DAILY ARTICLE, January 3, 2023 - JIM DENISON, PHD
This NFL Monday Night Football game has been trending news for several days; and it was not about when to reschedule the postponed game. Questions being asked focus on the condition of Hamlin, the injured player. Millions of people watching the NFL Monday Night Game have been praying for Hamlin to recover. A photo circulated quickly of players and coaches from both teams praying on their knees at mid-field for Hamlin and his injuries.
Everything can change in a few seconds. Sooner or later each of us face our worst sort of tragic injury, health emergency, or personal loss. What then, might people like us do? As John Bunyan observed, “You can do more than pray after you have prayed, but you cannot do more than pray until AFTER you have prayed.”
This is sound advice for everyone to remember this year. Pray more, pray often. Also, cling to the HOPE we have found in Jesus.
“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13 NLT
Join us this weekend at Journey Community Christian Church as we share part two, LET HOPE IN. If you are needing a little support from family and friends of faith, join us for this relevant discussion in the New Year. Everyone desires the best, ever, New Year in the weeks and months ahead.
Just as the world witnessed, two opposing NFL Football teams, kneeling together in prayer in a crisis, we are better together. Invite someone to come and join us too. Jesus is for everybody. Not everybody knows. We have to tell everybody.
Let’s do this… LET HOPE IN!
