As I type a few words for this blog today my goal is to encourage with wise words. I just got off a conversation with a friend living out of state. They have been longtime supporters of my ministry and our mission at Journey Community Christian Church. I’ve helped them as pastor and friend during several life changing events.
Today I learned, my friend is seeking a job change. They are hoping to find a more satisfying employment with a healthier workplace environment. This search has been months going on for months. The piece which seems to be missing in their current job is positive reinforcement and emotional support.
Where have we heard these kind of comments before. So many people I know are currently in jobs with higher demand, fewer benefits, and under staffed crews. Many working people are dissatisfied, while searching; yet feel trapped with current cost of living expenses. We have to work longer hours, with less time to interview for better opportunities.
Yikes. this sounds like the Israelites, God’s family in the Bible (Exodus 5:6-21). They became slaves in Egypt and were forced into unfair labor practices. Pharaoh demanded more bricks each day, but without providing them the straw. God’s people had to scramble, finding adequate straw for meeting the daily quota.
This weekend at Journey Community Christian Church we’re launching a new series from the Bible, titled, Worthy. Let me be transparent. I am a minster, not a career counselor. I am a coach and pastor, not a financial advisor. However, I believe my Biblical views are relevant for every personal choice and decision in life.
I believe our best stories on earth will always include God. If you are looking for a little inspiration and motivation for not giving up, this series will help. You may not get a job promotion or win a trip, all expenses paid. I do believe you will gain insight and a few notes which can help you through peaks and valleys of our stories each day.
If you’re curious enough to hear more, plan on joining us this weekend Journey Church Cynthiana. In person Sat@6pm/Sun@10:30am. Also, try online. Watch the Facebook livestream, or later when available.
One last thought. What do I know? I can’t even wire a ceiling fan or unclog my sink. I may not be a genius. I don’t know your current situation in life. However, God KNOWS… He is always aware.
And like the Israelites in the Bible, God eventually delivered them from oppression and slavery, enroute to the Promised Land (Exodus 6). God will lead YOU to write your best page, chapter, and story.
Worthy stories always include God.
