Today is the last day of August and we’re two thirds of the way through the year. Fall weather and football will be trending everywhere this weekend. If you were to take a look back at the last eight months this year, how are things going? Do you see progress in your personal life? Are all your family healthy? Are you feeling secure in your finances. These are good questions to consider three-quarters of the way through the year.
Each day is a gift and each changing season arrives faster all the time. Most of us seek out a financial advisor who can help us plan for a better future. We have medical doctors to schedule regular/annual appointments. During check-ups we gain information for continuing, as long as possible, optimum health. As colder weather approaches we may even want to weatherize drafty doors and windows. Being prepared for changing seasons is wise.
I’ve just celebrated another birthday. Family and friends were very gracious in gifts and kind words expressed. Birthdays cause me to reflect any progress in life God has helped me achieve. I always consider areas that still need my attention. I’m still working on things just like everyone. I’m really grateful I’m not who I used to be; not even last year!
How would you say you describe how you are doing right now? Are you on the way up, or the way down, in personal growth areas this year? Are you well prepared as much as possible for whatever lies ahead? How are you planning to use these last few months of the year? Are you striving for the things which God wants for you?
This weekend at Journey Church Cynthiana we’re taking a fresh look in the Bible (Ephesians 1:15-19) searching for a “God wink” of sorts. We hope to clearly see… make a new discovery finding wisdom and courage, in fresh steps to Forward Thinking, getting past my past… all mistakes and miscues in this year.
I had an appointment this week with my annual eye doctor. I needed to reorder my contacts. Also, I needed the annual eye exam making sure my vision hadn’t changed. People have moments when our vision is blurry and we may need to change a prescription. Have you let others you trust give you an “eye exam” of sorts? You know, some accountability, confirming or revealing, how you are viewing God and your engagement at Church right now?
Jump inside with us and others this weekend and let’s take this “eye test” together. Like putting big and small letters on the wall. Let’s check out how clearly we are able to see things from God’s perspective in our life. Let’s do this. Bring a seat buddy with you. Everyone needs a check up now and then. Maybe it has been awhile.
See you at the Journey Church Cynthiana front door. I promise this will not be like one of those painful dentist visits where you got an impacted tooth pulled. God is rooting for all of us to sharpen our vision. We can do this. You can do this. Go God!
Finding new focus before the year is gone. Good plan. Forward Thinking….
